The Plea: Guilty Or Not Guilty?

Police StationThis is, in many cases, a question of paramount importance. Unless the situation is drastically clear-cut, no plea should be entered without the benefit of legal advice.

Ted Bramble will be pleased to advise on this most important aspect.

It should be noted that once a plea of guilty is entered, that plea is not easily reversed. On the other hand a plea of not guilty can (usually) be reversed at any time, even part way through a hearing.

The law provides for a discount or reduction in penalty in exchange for an early plea of guilty. It follows that a decision to plead guilty should be made, if possible, “sooner rather than later”.
